Then Sings my Soul

The past couple of Saturdays have been crazy busy and I have not had time to write a post. This past week my baby grew up before my eyes. She is a year old and this week she seemed less "my baby," she is beginning that change from baby to toddler. I heard this song for the first time this week and it really struck me. This is what I want her to know: she will always be safe in my arms. I want to create a relationship with her (and her sister) that allows her to always feel safe in my arms. I want to be the safe place she can run to when others hurt her, when she makes less than wise choices, when life throws her a curve ball. This song helps keep that as a focus!

Your baby blues
So full of wonder
Your Curly Que's
Your contagious smile
And as I watch
You start to grow up
All I can do is hold you tight
Knowing

Clouds will rage in
Storms will race in
But you will be safe in my arms
Rains will pour down
Waves will crash all around
But you will be safe in my arms

Story books
Are full of fairy-tales
Of kings and queens
And the bluest skies
My heart is torn just in knowing
You'll someday see
The truth for lies

Clouds will rage in
Storms will race in
But you will be safe in my arms
Rains will pour down
Waves will crash all around
But you will be safe in my arms

Castles they might crumble
Dreams may not come true
Cause you are never all alone
Cause I will always
Always love you

Hey I
Hey I
Will love

Clouds will rage in
Storms will race in
But you will be safe in my arms
Rains will pour down
Waves will crash all around
But you will be safe in my arms

In my arms

That is a great song that makes me choke up each time I hear it because as mothers that is so what we want them to know! Sometimes it's hard to balance that safety and freedom as they age. My oldest just reach a right of passage this week with Boy Scout Camp. My mothers heart wanted to clinge to my 10lb 1 oz baby boy, but alas growth comes and I must adjust!

I loved this song. I had heard it on the radio but never really listened to the words. They do grow up way to fast. We need to take time to savor the moments when they are little, and to let them know they are always safe with us. Thanks for sharing this song this week.

This is a beautiful song. My "baby" is moving home this month, 19yrs old. I'm glad that she still finds us a safe habor. They grow up too fast.
